Vera van Heeringen Trio concert
Clayhidon enjoyed a splendid evening with Vera and her band: Andy on double bass and Dave on guitar and mandolin. They sang and played close to the audience in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Although Vera chose songs from other composers, she mainly sang her own compositions which had been inspired by her family or from memorable incidents in her life.
Vera’s skill on the guitar and mandolin was exceptional, but in particular was a vibrant Appalacian dance that she played superbly on the violin.
Another memorable piece that Vera sang was about an Iraqi refugee finally entering Holland called “Three blankets, two sheets and a pillow”. You can find this on her latest album, “Won’t be Broken”.
