URGENT – Litter Pick

It’s litter pick time again and we must have a go quickly as everything is growing so fast!

Published: 5 April 2024

There’s no time to organise a group event so I would ask anyone who litter picks all the time to have a special go next week and bring the bags to the front of the village hall between April 8 and 15. We need new volunteers please.

The district council will then pick it up.

Regular pickers who do this annoying work week in and week out know who they are but this year we are going to really miss the late Nicola Bendle who used to do Back Lane, Grays Lane?? and around Gladhayes and my late husband Gareth used to help me do from the top road to Wellington crossroads down past Heazle to the next cross roads. Our former parish clerk Donna Evans who died recently used to come with her two children and help out.

Other people may be ill so Clayhidon really needs some new residents to volunteer and pick up the rubbish on their normal walks. Everyone is needed to do a stretch of lane however long or short.

Please ring me on 07702 525290 to let me know if you are doing a certain road.

Normal bin bags are ok. I have grabbers, hi vis jackets and a couple of gadgets which hold a sack open for anyone to borrow. ALWAYS wear gloves and if you come cross some large rubbish or tipped stuff, please let me know.

Also beware of quiet electric cars.

Our lovely green valleys of Clayhidon are one of the largest parishes in the country but we have a small number of residents so it is all the more important that we all do our bit.

Please phone me Alison Weekes on 07702 525290
