The John Griss charity is planning another free Open Day in the Bolham Valley, Clayhidon. It will be held on Sunday, September 1 from 2pm to 6pm.
Members of the charity and Clayhidon Parish Council are keen to show parishioners the improvements which have taken place at Hartsmoor Fisheries, the land and lakes left to the parish by the late John Griss.
The Bird Dogs, a popular local band, has been booked, the parish hall committee will run a bar and there will be a BBQ as well. Parking will be on site but no dogs are permitted.
Guided tours will be available for the beautiful site which includes four lakes and pasture land. Taster fishing lessons will be provided on the small Barbel lake and the charity hopes youngsters will be involved in this.
The new chairman of the John Griss charity, John Kidner, said the committee hope the whole community will come and celebrate the legacy left to the parish by the late John Griss which will bring in an income to the parish for possibly decades to come. The committee is currently considering the possibilities of a picnic area and a memorial stone at the site.
