M5 Update

The final phases of our works Our essential repairs are progressing well on the southbound carriageway of the M5 at junction 27, near Willand.

Published: 23 February 2025

Including both the northbound and southbound carriageways, we have repaired a total of 191 concrete bays and resurfaced over 38km of lanes on the motorway.

In early March, we will start work to remove the contraflow and prepare the M5 for reopening in time for the Easter holidays.

Upcoming closures and diversions

We currently have two lanes running in each direction with all traffic using the northbound carriageway in contraflow. This contraflow will be in place until 6am Saturday 1 March.

To enable us to safely remove the contraflow, we will be changing to two lanes being open in each direction. This will involve some overnight closures.  We will carry out the closures overnight to minimise disruption.
