A brave new business venture by Clayhidon’s Blackmore family has “gone bananas”, said Casey Blackmore. Less than two weeks after the start of their fresh milk vending machine
and milkshake bar Palmers farm has become an unlikely tourist destination. The project has made a great start, and she and husband Jamie and mum-in-law Thelma are thrilled by the number of walkers, cyclists and motorists stopping to buy milk and shakes.

“We’re a tenth-generation, family-run farm in the Blackdown Hills and take huge pride in looking after our herd of gorgeous girls,” said Casey. “We believe a happy life spent grazing the fields
makes for the most delicious, nutritious milk around.”

Customers can buy fresh pasteurised, non-homogenised whole milk or create their own delicious milkshakes with a variety of syrup flavours, from the fresh milk vending machine and milkshake bar. They have reusable 1-litre glass bottles available to buy, or you can bring your own. There are compostable cups for a smaller 500ml serving.

“Our milk stand is located just over a mile outside Hemyock and we think it makes the perfect stop if you are on your bike or enjoying a family walk. There are a couple of picnic tables so you can stay a while and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while you sip.  You might even hear the tinkle of Fiona’s cowbell as she grazes the fields nearby with her friends.

“Our herd of British Frisian cows are milked twice a day by us and their milk from is then gently pasteurised right here on the farm in our newly converted shipping container.”

The Milk Stand offers seven regular milkshake flavours; Strawberry, Raspberry, Chocolate, Banana, Coffee, Salted Caramel and Mint Chocolate with weekly specials that include: Biscoff, Nutella, Oreo, Rolo, Rhubarb and Custard and many more. It also sells local brownies and blueberries
