Clayhidon Parish Council Meeting

 Held via Zoom at 7.30pm on Monday 11th January 2021

Mr M Bendle (Chair), Mr J Blackmore, Mr R Brown, Mr R Drew (Vice-chairman), Mr N King, Mrs A Weekes, 5 members of the public and Mrs D Evans (Parish Clerk)

 
2.            Declarations of Interest 

Agenda items 5.1 and 5.2:  Mr Brown has a personal interest as he is a neighbouring landowner.

3.            Public Participation 

Nothing to report.

4.           Co-option 

Three candidates, each of whom had applied for the position of councillor, attended the meeting and answered questions from councillors.

 

Under Section 1, Paragraph 2 of The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 the public were excluded from the meeting as publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.

 

The council discussed the merits of each candidate.

 

The meeting was reopened to the public.

 

PROPOSAL:  The council co-opts John Kidner to the parish council.

PROPOSED:  Mr King

SECONDED:  Mr  Brown

DECISION: passed (all in favour)

 

The remaining candidates were thanked for applying for the post and reminded that the next parish elections will be held in May 2023.

 
5.           Planning 

Planning applications considered for:-

7.          John Griss Estate 

The government has released an update with regard to Covid-19 restrictions for day-fishing and the lakes do not need to close.

 

The John Griss Charity has been successfully registered with the Charity Commission.  Mr Bendle suggested the charity trustees should meet in 14 days’ time to elect a chairman and to discuss next steps. The clerk will organise and issue an agenda for Monday 25th January at 7.30pm via Zoom.

 

Mr King was thanked for retrieving photos and other historical and personal items from the cottage.  These will need to be sorted and possibly passed on to the local history group.

  

 

 

8.           Items raised by councillors 

8.1     Mr King had heard that Hatchet and Brandy Cottage may be renamed.  The clerk was asked to establish if the name of a house could be protected in some way.  Clerk will contact MDDC to clarify process for renaming.

8.2     The road surface between Lilycombe and Bollhayes is potholed and needs to be reported.  Clerk to action.

8.3      There is a blocked gully on the Ridgewood Road, Mr Kidner to provide clerk with exact location so that she may report it.

8.4      Dog bags have been left on the footpath by Carlingwark.  Clerk to remind public in Pump article to take bags and poo home.
